Book Review: The Bible

Here’s the first of hopefully many book reviews to appear in CHRISTIS. If you have read a book or maybe heard a record (of at least vaguely Christian content of course) that you would particularly recommend (or not as the case may be) to others then you are encouraged to write in so that the book review can be a regular slot in CHRISTIS.

The first book to be reviewed is a rather interesting and controvercial book caled the Bible (or to give its full title, the Holy Bible). Despite having a rather silly name (sounding not too dissimilar to the noise made when brushing ones fingers up and down ones lips whilst gently breathing out) it has proved to be fairly popular since its release and is now in it’s several thousandth edition.

Like a lot of books though, many people fail to understand its content and after buying it, keep it on the shelf as an ornament or something to refer to at the last moment without ever actually reading it in detail.

The first half of the book is an epic of a story about an extended Jewish family of Adam and his wife Eve. The book follows the family for many generations setting the scene for the second half.

The story then starts to hot up at the new arrival of a rather intelligent bloke called Jesus who travels around the place saying of lots of wise things and performing miracles. Unfortunately this didn’t go down too well with the authorities so they nailed him to a tree.

At this point you would think that this was a bad move for Jesus, but not so, as this is where the story gets most interesting and things start making sense, I shall stop now though so that you can read it for yourself and get the most out of it.
