Editorial

Welcome to York, and welcome to Christis — the university’s free, student-run Christian magazine. If this is the first Christis you’ve read, for whatever reason, please feel doubly welcomed. Turn to the back pages, and you’ll find a useful guide to Christian activities around campus over the next couple of weeks. But then, why turn to the back, when there’s all the rest of the magazine to read?! This issue, we serve up a few guilty pleasures, two guides to church-hunting, an interview with none other than the Archbishop of York, and lots, lots more. Get stuck in and if you like what you read, it’s only five weeks till our next issue goes into production. Now is the perfect time to consult your muse and discover your budding journalistic talent. Then, simply send material to christis@yusu.org Of course, if you’re really not into writing, there’s plenty more to do. All positions are up for grabs at our AGM in week 5. Yes, that includes Editor — I am, alas, in my final year and must step down — but there are also computerish, graphics, administrative and production posts to be had. Or you could be treasurer. Judas was Jesus’ treasurer, you know. Maybe you can do better. Christis has played a hugely important role in my time at York, and I hope you can benefit from the results. It’s often made me take a step back and consider issues I’d never had to think about before, and shown me new perspectives on faith, that I’d never dreamed of. But is the finished product worthwhile? I’ll let you be the judge of that. See you at our next meeting.!
