Editorial
Hello and welcome to Christis. Hopefully this issue will provide both challenging and thought provoking ideas, at a time when the Voice Mission in York is highlighting the relevance of Christianity for people today.
At the moment, the news is full of reports of war, famine and recession, and Christis has decided that as well as being a mouthpiece for discussion on such issues, we could also do something active to help. As a result, we’ve decided to take part in Oxfam’s 24 hour sponsored fast for the Africa famine appeal. To make this worthwhile though, we need your support. I’d like to urge you to help by either sponsoring someone (Or several people if you’re feeling particularly rich and/or generous!); or to take part in the fast itself. There will be a stall in Vanbrugh Concourse if you want to help, as well as further information in this issue of Christis.
This brings me to a further plea — support for Christis itself. If you would like to get involved in any way there are plenty of opportunities. Not only do we welcome articles written from a Christian perspective, but also help in the production of the magazine. All members are automatically part of the editorial board, and weekly editorial meetings are held in L/119 at 4 pm on Wednesdays. In addition, if you have any views on next issue’s Thinker feature, “How do you define worship?” please send them to the Christis pigeonhole in the Goodricke SU corridor.
I hope you have a happy Autumn term and enjoy your reading!
