Christians in York is part of an international group of churches under the apostolic leadership of two brothers, Bryn and Keri Jones (they are Welsh, as is the pastor, Mike Hughes, and they all have really ace accents!).
The Church could be described as being charismatic, and evangelical, in that we believe that the Bible was given completely by the inspiration of God, and that the gifts of the Holy Spirit and their exercise is for the empowerment and the edification of the Church today. Worship in meetings flows freely, and praise tends to be rather jubilant! (And why not? God is enthroned in his people’s praises! Hallelujah!)
At the moment the church is fairly small (60ish people), and very friendly. Everyone is strongly encouraged not just to turn up to meetings, but to get truly involved with the church; this means being jealous for each others blessing, and sharing our lives under God’s covenant.
The church meets every Sunday, at 10.30am in Cannon Lee School, Rawcliffe (lifts from Goodricke taxi rank at 10am), during the week for house groups, and frequently for prayer time and socials. We really do believe that God is aching to pour out his Spirit in York, and that we will be part of continuing the ministry of Jesus, as described in Isaiah 61.
