Why Should I Join Pro-Deo?

“Or why shouldn’t you?” asks Becky Stokes

In the aim of getting some Christis readers to turn up to this thing I have compiled a list of 10 good reasons not to come.

I’m not artistic.
Are you sure? O.K. — you’re sure. It doesn’t matter. In an hour and a half workshop enthusiasm is far more important than talent — don’t bury yours in the ground.
I’m not a Christian.
Not a problem. Anyone interested is welcome to come. We’re hoping Pro Deo will be a chance for non-Christians to come to a Christian run group without feeling out of place.
I don’t want to make a fool of myself.
David said; “I will play music before the Lord. And I will be even more undignified than this [he is referring to dancing in a loin cloth in the gateway to Jerusalem] and be humble in my own sight” (2 Samuel 7, v 21–22) — and he was a king!
I don’t feel like it.
There is nothing to put you in a good mood faster than playing with glue and paints! Don’t miss out on an opportunity to do something beautiful for God because you’ve had a bad week.
I haven’t got time.
You don’t have to come to every workshop. It’s not a great time commitment and would make a relaxing stop off between your 9 – 5 day in the library and going home to write your essay until midnight!
I don’t know anyone else who’s going.
Talk someone into it, or else come and find some more daring friends! Hopefully we’ll get a good mix of people so please don’t worry about coming along alone.
I can’t afford it.
Pro Deo is free. There will be a collection at the end of each session towards paying for publicity and materials but it is entirely voluntary.
It’s on at the same time as Neighbours
It is indeed starting at 5.30pm. Could you consider getting a friend to let you know whether Debbie and Mal get together?
I don’t know where Heslington church is.
Hes church is the big church diagonally opposite Heslington Main Street. Cross the road outside Derwent porters lodge and walk diagonally through the accommodation blocks there. At the top right corner is a path going over a bridge leading to Hes church’s main door.
I forgot.
Cut out our timetable from Christians on Campus and stick it on your notice board! If you would like to be on the Pro Deo mailing list contact Fiona — Goodricke pigeon holes — email flnw100.
