Christis Comment Corner

Hello and yet more silky, furry and fluffy greetings (and “welcome back”s) to York and more specifically to the wondrous rag which you now hold. We trust that you’ll have as much entertainment reading it as we’ve had making it. As you can see from our wildly exciting Declaration of Aims we exist to give you the opportunity to discuss, question, rave about or be thought-provoking about any aspect of Christianity you wish. Use it for what you will (it props up wonky desks nicely); we openly welcome, nay wholeheartedly encourage articles, letters, cartoons, poems, crosswords and Thinker responses from anyone and everyone. So put pen to paper or fingers to keyboard and start contributing — you’re never too fresh a fresher to have your name in print.

We are not affiliated to any particular society but are made up of one big mush from all the Christian societies working and playing happily together alongside each other. One further purpose of Christis being to promote unity between all the Christian societies “I pray also for all those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you.” John 17 v 20&21. We are open for all to write to and join, Christian and non-Christian and we hope to learn from each other’s opinions and styles more about the God who made us all perfectly different.

You’ll find that this particular issue is in part devoted to helping you make informed decisions about churches and societies. We’ve also got a selection of articles to show you what’s been happening over the summer holidays to some of the students, and the musings of all and sundry as to what God’s been doing on campus recently in the Thinker. So delve in. Enjoy. If you like it — tell us, if you hate it — join us and change the society radically from the inside (you’ll find us at the Freshers Fair on Saturday and we’d LOVE to see you there).
