The Thinker
Where would God go on Retreat?

- Where we go on retreat — to walk with us in our
journey, and be there when we make space for Him.
- Birmingham, because it’s sound.
- Vanbrugh! (walking along, singing a song, walking in a
Vanbrugh wonderland)
- He wouldn’t go anywhere: he has nothing to retreat
from
- Yorkshire — God’s own county!
- He can’t go anywhere; he’s omnipresent!
- He would wobble indiscriminately into the lake.
- Heaven — I guess his own presence is a pretty good
place to be.
- Perhaps he could spend some time at the gym and work on
his omnipotence.
- The Palestinian desert for 40 days and nights
…
- Perhaps he could take a French chalet, and use the time,
peace and solitude to rewrite the Bible, after all he did a
botch-job on the first attempt didn’t he? In 2Kings
8:26 he writes: “Two and twenty years old was Ahaziah
when he began to reign” Yet in 2Chronicles 22:2 his
words are: “Forty and two years old was Ahaziah when he
began to reign”
- God wouldn’t go on Retreat. He only does
Advances.
- Highbury, home of the mighty Arsenal!
- Down the pub, with a pint of Old Peculier.
- I think He’d head for the first star on the right
and straight on ’til morning!
