The Thinker:

War, what is it good for?

Set in the context of the current international situation with Iraq war makes unjustified assumptions about the value of life. We know that to kill is wrong. The attitude of the USA at present appears to place a higher value on Western lives than Arab lives. This is racist, not to mention fundamentally wrong.

It’s good for weapons manufacturers and politicians, but that’s not nearly enough to justify it.

Don’t ask me, ask a Bosnian child who’s seen their parents killed, an Iraqi Kurd who’s been living in the mountains for fear for years, or a ‘bogus’ asylum seeker who fled civil war in fear of their life

Not a lot, it only appears to cause more war. It doesn’t remove problems.

War is a very good tool to use to destroy the Earth and everything in it. With the addition of pollution, deforestation and global warming there will soon be none of God’s gifts left.

War is good for making really exciting films about.

War is bad and only results in suffering. But maybe it is worth this suffering, if it relieves a higher suffering and more pain in the long run.
