Well, the next edition of Christis is upon us, and so is Fairtrade Fortnight. Under Fairtrade, farmers are guaranteed a minimum price, no matter how low the world market price falls. Since 1999, understanding of what the Fairtrade mark stands for has doubled and here in the UK we now spend about £1.50 per second on Fairtrade produce. In Fairtrade Fortnight 2003, the mission is to convince people that fairly traded products taste as good as the deal that they provide for the farmers themselves. There will be events here on campus to support the movement from 3rd to 16th of March. If you would like to know more about Fairtrade, please feel free to speak to the Christian societies here at the University or visit www.fairtrade.org.uk

Easter time is a very important one in the Christian calendar. Through the chocolate eggs and the newly born ducklings, there is the single most important thing that has ever happened here on earth since the Creation _ the death of our lord and saviour Jesus Christ on the cross. He died to take our sins away and we must not be allowed to forget this, even though the emphasis in modern society has gone. I hope that some of the articles here in the magazine will give you some thoughts to contemplate over during this deeply important anniversary.

We have a packed edition of Christis for you. We have had many articles but unfortunately no letters this time around. If you do have comments, responses or articles to print, please do e-mail them to us at editor@christis.org.uk or drop them into our pigeon hole at the SU building in Goodricke College. Interested in helping out? Then, please e-mail us or drop into one of our meetings, which are held on Wednesdays at 1:15pm in D/130. It would be great to see you. Enjoy!
