Welcome to the first Christis issue of the new term! I hope everyone who was here last year survived the summer, and that all you freshers are settling in. This summer has certainly been a busy one, what with the G8 conference and associated protests, the London bombings and hurricanes. I seem to have missed all the excitement and spent most of the summer on various trains! On a more serious note, a much valued member of the Christis committee and production team, Greg Melia, was involved in a cycling accident over the summer. Though making good progress he is still in hospital and will not be returning to York this year. Your thoughts and prayers would be very welcome.
I wish you all luck as you enter the chaos that is Freshers’ Week and the beginning of term! Our Good Church Guide should help those of you new to York, or who are bored with your current church and feel like a change. Remember God as you attempt to battle with societies, timetables and nocturnal housemates. This issue contains an article by John Knox on good Christian behaviour, if you find it a little tricky.
We also have an article by Rachel Cavill reflecting on the Christian conferences on campus over the summer, Lois Cross takes a look at prayer and I tackle the subject of terrorism.
Remember that your articles are always welcome, and we are always on the lookout for new volunteers to help with production. It’s great fun, and I’ve survived a year of it so far!
