We're Back!

Hi folks. There's been a bit of an outage recently, as you may have noticed. But we're back! More updates coming to the site soon!

5th June, 2006

Look at the archive! I've got all the way up to issue 15! Lots of exciting articles for you to read. Unfortuantly there has been a bit of a delay with issue 101 so it will be a while before that appears online.

2nd June, 2006

Issue 6 and issue 7 have appeared — look out for more old ones soon! Issue 101 should be distributed sometime soon and appear on the website shortly afterwards.

1st April, 2006

Issue 100 is online! Enjoy reading and have a happy Easter.

The next deadline for submissions is Wednesday week 3 of the summer term (10th May).

2nd March, 2006

Sorry for the delay: Issue 99 is now online.

22nd December, 2005

Well I've been re-elected as webmaster, and I've finally put Issue 98 online, sorry it's a little late!

As you have probably noticed, there are adverts on Christis now! Sorry about that, but we've had a little bit of a budget crisis - in that we got about 1/3 of the money we asked for! And in particular no budget for the website, so hopefully the adverts will pay for that. Luckily our treasurer has managed to find us a cheaper printers and discover we've been mistakenly charged a load of tax we shouldn't. So, hopefully, we should be just about fine this year. But we could have problems next year in particular.

So, as a big plug: if you're interested in advertising in Christis, either in the print edition or on this website, please get in contact with us. Details are available here.

17th October, 2005

Our Freshers' issue is now available. If you came to see us at the Freshers' fair you should already have picked up your copy and we hope to see you at our meeting on Wednesday (1:15 in D/130). Otherwise you might still be able to find a copy around campus, or of course you can read it all online!

Whether you signed up or not, do please consider coming along to our meetings and/or writing articles. We have many roles that you can fill, you don't have to know the first thing about producing a magazine, writing or even Christanity! We can either teach you, or if you like you can take one of the more administrative roles such as treasurer or even web master (sadly it's my final year, so I won't be around to do the next Freshers' issue).

Anyway, if this is your first visit here, have a look around and see what we do. Hopefully you'll be inspired and I look forward to seeing you on Wednesday!

6th October, 2005

Welcome to York if you're here for the first time, or welcome back if you've just been away for the summer! There's a new issue of Christis that will be available around campus next week (Freshers' week) as soon as it comes back from the printers. We hope you enjoy it! If you don't manage to pick up a paper copy, then it'll be appearing on this website shortly afterwards as well.

Exciting changes to the website include a Freshers' link on the left (if you're a Fresher go and click it please!), and I've modified the whole website so that the articles print nicely (I don't know if anyone has ever tried to print one before, but should anyone try it'll look nice now!).

And finally, we've lost many of our main men (and Kat! :) ) over the summer - due to graduations, years out, a bike accident and that sort of thing. So now would be a very good time to come along and get involved in Christis, whether you're new here or not!

17th June, 2005

Issue 96 is on the website, and you might still be able to find some copies around campus. It's a bumper edition as it's the only one for this term.

We've got a nice long summer holiday ahead, but we still need lots of articles to make a good Freshers issue next term and hopefully get some new members. So if you're feeling creative, have an experience you want to share or just want to write a response to an article in our latest issue then go check out our submissions page to find out how to submit your article.

17th March, 2005

Issue 95 has been produced, distributed and is now on the website.

Hopefully, on Saturday week 3 next term, we'll be holding a quiz. More details will be released later, but put that date in your diaries!

17th Feburary, 2005

Issue 94 has been produced! It's on the website, and if you're lucky you might still be able to find a copy around campus somewhere (due to a slight slip-up it actually says Issue 93 on the front!). Issue 02 is also on the website in case you're interested in how Christis began. You might also have noticed the Make Poverty History.org link at the top right. If you want to know more then click on it — or go read the excellent article about it in issue 94 (if for no other reason than to marvel at the white band at the top of the article — it took me long enough to get it working!).

And if you want to write an article for Christis, or feel you want to respond to an article with a letter — then the deadline for submissions for issue 95 is this coming Wednesday (23rd Feb). So get writing! And if you'd like to come to the production meeting and help choose which articles are going to be in issue 95 then it's on Wednesday in D/130 at 1.15pm. We look forward to seeing you!

15th December, 2004

We had our last meeting of the term today, so I hope you all have a good Christmas, and write lots of exciting Christis articles for our next issue! Next term we'll be in a different room (D/130 — in Derwent, above the dining room), but still at the same time (Wednesday 1:15). There won't be a meeting in week 1 as we've got exams, but starting week 2 the fun of Christis resumes — why not come along and enjoy it?

11th December, 2004

Issue 93 was distributed on Wednesday, and like a good little webmaster I've put it online!

5th December, 2004

You can now search the Christis archive using the 'Search Christis' link above. The search engine is one I've written myself, so if you have any comments or ideas on how it could be improved then let me know.

4th December, 2004

Woo! The website is now up-to-date! Issue 92 is online!

30th November, 2004

Yet another issue, this time it's the turn for Issue 91!

29th November, 2004

Another issue is now up: Issue 90.

I've also subtly updated the cartoons page. It's now dynamically generated, and I've added the cartoon from Issue 90. Hopefully now it's dynamically generated it might be kept up to date!

27th November, 2004

Issue 81 is now complete. Issue 87 and Issue 89 are also now available. Issue 88 now has a picture of its cover page and section editorials.

I have an electronic copy of issues 90-92, and I'll be putting them up over the next week. After that I have big plans to make the site more consistent (the older issues are still in an older format), and to write a search engine to search the entire archive.

22nd November, 2004

We've had a busy weekend! Issue 88 is now online. Issue 86 has been updated to have section editorials and a missing article. A bit of Issue 81, whose electronic copy is lost, has been painstakingly typed in. What there is of Issue 1 has also been added.

19th November, 2004

Welcome to the slightly new webpage design! You probably won't notice much difference but I've tidied up a few loose ends, and made the site look a bit more consistent in places. I'll also be getting the archive up-to-date with the latest issues as soon as I get hold of them.

17th November, 2004

This will be my last post as computer coordinator for Christis - I just stepped down at the Christis AGM held this afternoon. I would like to take this opportunity to welcome Nicola and Steve who will be your new computer coordinators. Any questions, complaints or petitions to have me return should be directed to them.

5rd November, 2004

Issue 86 is now online. It has a slightly different background and colour scheme than issue 85. What do you think?

3rd November, 2004

Issue 85 is now online. It offers a preview of what the new style of pages look like for articles. There are, however, a few features missing that should be added soon. You'll notice that there are now links to each article in the magazine just under the main set of links. These allow you to browse the magazine in a non-linear fashion, or whatever order you choose.

11th October, 2004

Welcome back everyone. A new year has just started at York and with it a new issue of Christis. I have been informed that the Fresher's issue of Christis should be printed by Wednesday. Make sure you are at Fresher's fair so you can pick up your copy!

29th April, 2004

New format for the main Christis pages! The format of the main Christis pages has been changed (as you can see). There are still some older pages including the archive that have still to be updated. Hope you like the new format. Email me with questions or comments.

Wednesday, August 6th, 2004

Issue 85 will soon be added to the website. Really! I will get round to it. What do you think of the new graphics on the website? Email me with your comments. Best responses win a prize (possible inclusion on the website).

Monday, July 14th, 2004

Issue 85 will soon be added to the website. Still no news on issue 84. I'm working on a program that will automate most of the task of generating PHP pages for the website articles and once I'm finished issue 85 will be the first issue done in this way. While it does mean some delays with this issue it should lead to faster updating of the website in future.

Wednesday, May 21st, 2004

Issue 84 has now been distributed and there are still some copies left in Your shop and in some of the porter's lodges. I'll have it on the website soon (hopefully). If you want to submit something for the next issue you can email us here. The deadline for the next issue is Wednesday, May 28th.

Wednesday, May 7th, 2004

Welcome back to a new term at York or welcome to the Website if you aren't at York universtiy. This term I plan to add a forum to the website as well as the full, unabridged version of the King James edition Bible so you can quickly and easily look up references in articles or just to read the Bible easily online.

We are in the process of producing issue 84 and it should be ready for distribution very soon. I may initially add it to the website as a *.pdf file as I am quite busy at the moment. It would be viewable with a free plugin that your browser probably already has.

As always comments and suggestions are welcome. Please send any to here

Wednesday, March 5th, 2004

The new issue of Christis (issue 83) is being distributed today. It is also available here. There are a wide variety of articles in the current issue ranging from Ian Miller's article on liberalism to an article by Charlie Ellis in favour of Vday. I hope you enjoy reading the issue and if you have any comments or suggestions please e-mail them to us.

Wednesday, February 26th, 2004

The newest issue (issue 83) has now been finished. It was sent to the printers early today and should be distributed sometime next week. We have found a copy of (the computer file containing) issue 81 so I should be able to add it to the website within the next week or two.

Saturday, February 15th, 2004

The new issue (issue 82) is now available on the website. Click here to see it now.

This issue contains an article exploring the history and the traditions surrounding St. Valintines Day, a Thinker- "War, what is it good for?" and many other articles and features.

Friday, February 7th, 2004

This is my first new posting as Computer coordinator and webmaster of christis. org.uk. Over the next few months I plan on adding several news features to the website including some exclusive articles and other features. However, I would also like to hear any ideas that you may have for the site. Does any aspect need to be added/ improved/ changed/ removed. Please email any ideas you have to me.

The latest issue (82) of Christis should be up on the site within the next week. Unfortunately we have had some problems with issue 81, but I am working on a solution.
